Kargil, January 20, 2025: The Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.) today attended the final match of the 4th LG Ice Hockey Cup Championship 2024-25 as chief guest at Ice Hockey Rink, Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium, Biamathang, Kargil.

Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffar Akhoon; Executive Councillor, Kacho Mohd Feroz; Executive Councillor, Er. Punchok Tashi; Administrative Secretary (Rural Dev. & PR/IT/Disaster Management), Shashanka Ala, IAS; Administrative Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Ladakh Vikram Singh Malik, IAS; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, IAS and other State and District Officers were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor hailed the spectators for their enthusiastic participation in supporting the ice hockey match, which paves the way for future opportunities for the players.

The Lieutenant Governor assured that whenever the Indian national team participates in an ice hockey match in foreign countries, Ladakh team will accompany them.

The LG assured that the selection of the team would be based purely on merit adding that only those who perform well will have the opportunity to be part of the team.

The LG also assured that a polo match would be organized next year in Kargil where the President of India will be invited as the Guest of Honor and teams across various states will participate.

The LG advised Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, Kargil to engage the concerned agency to modify the Ice Hockey Rink, Biamathang, Kargil making seating steps on the three open sides of the Ice Hockey Rink to seat more spectators with ease and comfort.

While delivering the welcome speech, the Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, welcomed the guests and congratulated all the twelve (12) teams who participated in the LG Ice Hockey Championship 2024-25. 

Deputy Commissioner Kargil thanked the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and the First Lady for conducting the LG Cup for the first time in Kargil.

The DC Kargil also thanked other guests, Youth Services and Sports Department and other concerned stakeholders for conducting the Championship in Kargil.

The final match was won by LSRC, defeating ITBP with a score of 2-1. The 4th LG Ice Hockey Cup Championship 2024-25 was held with great enthusiasm from January 16 to January 20, 2025, featuring boys’ and girls’ teams from both Leh and Kargil.
