Leh, Oct 3: The Lieutenant Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta today chaired a high-level security review meeting in Leh to take stock of the prevailing situation in Ladakh.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Director General of Police Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, DIG Srinagar South Shri P.K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner Leh, Senior Superintendent of Police Leh, Shri Sanjay Kumar, CO 79, Shri Rajat Jain, CO 25, and other senior officials. They briefed the Lt Governor on the overall law and order scenario and reported that the day remained peaceful across the Union Territory. The officers informed that peace and normalcy have been effectively restored with the wholehearted cooperation of the people.
The Hon’ble Lt Governor appreciated the exemplary restraint and sense of responsibility shown by the citizens during the recent relaxations in restrictions, terming their role crucial in maintaining stability. He assured that the UT administration remains committed to safeguarding the rights of citizens, working tirelessly to protect their aspirations for growth and harmony.
The Lt Governor also underlined that the return of normalcy will be accompanied by renewed thrust on development. He said the UT Administration will accelerate implementation of infrastructure projects, strengthen livelihood opportunities, and focus on sectors such as education, healthcare, renewable energy and tourism to ensure inclusive growth across the region. He emphasized that peace and development must go hand in hand for building a prosperous Ladakh.
Emphasizing the need for sustained vigilance, Shri Kavinder Gupta directed the administration and security agencies to remain alert, responsive, and adopt a people-friendly approach in their functioning. He reiterated that ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of every resident of Ladakh is the topmost priority of the UT Administration.
The Lt Governor further underscored that the administration will continue to intensify its outreach efforts and strengthen community engagement, fostering greater trust and cooperation between the government and the people. He stressed that Ladakh’s progress and harmony depend on collective responsibility and assured that every possible step will be taken to safeguard peace.
