Jammu, Mar 16 (KMW): Security forces arrested a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba alongwith Ak-47, IED and ammunition in bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Based on tip-off, troops of Garhi Battalion in assistance with Jammu and Kashmir Police yesterday launched a search operation in village Degwar and apprehended one Mohammad Ishaq from a house,” a senior police officer told.
He said the arrested militant was of LeT origin adding, “one Ak-47, two magazines, 59 rounds, one Improvised Explosive Device were recovered from his possession.”
“The top cop said that he had ex-filtrated to Pakistan for arms training in 2011 and recently returned, adding,” he is being interrogated and we are trying to find out his motive to return to the state.”
Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was also in Poonch district yesterday to address a public rally in support of Congress candidate Madan Lal Sharma for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat.
