Srinagar, Jun 1 (KMW) : Divisional Commander of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) was killed in a fierce encounter in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said here.
They said the operation was going on when the reports last came in.
A joint operation was launched by 6, 21 and 47 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and state police in village Sudal Magam, Handwara, in the frontier district of following a tip-off about the presence of militants.
However, when the particular area was being sealed, militants resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, source said, adding that security forces also retaliated ensuing a fierce encounter.
A militant has been killed and operation was going on, they said adding the slain militant was identified as Abu Ukasha Afghani.(KMW)
