LeT commander killed in Sopore: Police

Srinagar, June 23 (KMW): A Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant commander Mehmood Bhai was killed in an encounter with police and security forces that started last evening in Baba Raza, Krankshawan area of Sopore, police said.
According to a police statement issued to KMW, acting on a specific information about the presence of militants in Krankshawan, Baba Raza Sopore Police, 52 RR, 22 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation, last evening. The hiding militants opened fire on the search party triggering an encounter. The encounter ended today when a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist commander operating with code name Mehmood Bhai resident of Pakistan was killed.
One AK series rifle and other arms and ammunition was recovered from the possession of slain terrorist who was wanted in many terrorist crimes. He had escaped on several occasions from Security force cordons including from one fierce gun battle in Ahmad Nagar Srinagar last year. (KMW)
