Srinagar: A self styled District commander of Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) and a Delhi resident were among 13 people arrested under Public Safety Act (PSA) in the Kashmir Valley, where police have already started holding meetings with youths and other senior citizens to ensure violence free summer.
More than 110 people, mostly youths, were killed during 2010 summer unrest in the valley, where separatists’ demonstrators set on fire police stations, police posts and other buildings and vehicles.
A police spokesman said here that a massive drive has been launched by police in South Kashmir district of Anantnag against the militants, fake currency racket and other anti national and social elements.
He said during the past one week, police arrested seven people– four LeT militants and three members of fake currency racket–.
He said after evading arrest for the past some time, police finally arrested self styled District Commander of LeT Firdous Ahmad Peer alias Jana Peer alias Chottu.
Chottu was involved in fresh recruitment of youth in militancy in South Kashmir. (UNI)
