Legislators call on Governor

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 29: Mr. G.M Saroori, MLA Inderwal; Mr. Charanjeet Singh Khalsa, MLC; Ms. Shamim Firdous, MLA Habbakadal, Mr. Javed Rana, MLA Mendhar; Adv. Bashir Ahmad Dar, MLA, Kupwara; Mr. Abdul Majeed Wagay, MLA, Home Shalibugh; Mr. Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh, MLA Ganderbal; Raja Manzoor Ahmad, MLA Karnah; and Mr. Javed Mirchal, MLC had separate meetings with Governor N.N. Vohra, at the Civil Secretariat here today.
Mr. Saroori urged the Governor to expedite completion of Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel connecting Kishtwar with South Kashmir; restoration and widening of Morgan-Inshan-Nopatche and Batote- Kishtwar roads; to bring 166 roads being constructed under PMGSY Stage II under its 2014 schedule and submission of utilization certificates and audit report for roads constructed earlier under PMGSY; increase the scale of rations under NFSA for Marwah, Warwan, Dacchan, Padder and Chatroo areas of Kishtwar; regularization of Hand Receiver Workers in PHE and Casual, Daily Wager labourers working in different government departments; clearing 40,000 pending pension cases in Social Welfare Department; introduction of Heli service for Kishtwar; and payment of compensation for those killed and injured in the land slide which took place last night at Kithar Bunjawh.
Mr. Khalsa demanded Minority Status for Sikhs in the State; special recruitment drive for Sikh youth in police, paramilitary forces and other civil services; payment of compensation, as per recommendation of the Central Parliamentary Committee, to Displaced Persons (POK); suitable postings for decorated Police officers belonging to Sikh community and introduction of Punjabi language in schools.
Ms. Firdous demanded widening of roads from Habakadal to Fatehkadal and Babapora to Babadamb; instructions to LAWDA and SMC for removing encroachments from Brarinambal lagoon and its beautification; rehabilitation of Kohan Khan-Dalgate dwellers; development of a park on a patch of land situated on the right side of Munawarbad bridge; and enforcement of effective curb on the increasing drug menace in certain areas of her constituency.
Mr. Wagay apprised the Governor about demands relating to the improvement of HT/LT lines and augmentation of transformers in his constituency; release of funds for Receiving Station Shamsipora, bridge at Shamsipora, Wanpora, augmentation of 20 MVA transformer at Yaripora, Sub District Hospital-Qaimoh, up-gradation and macadamisation of roads in his constituency; and release of Medical Assistance for cancer, heart and kidney patients.
Mr. Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh apprised Governor about various developmental problems in his constituency and, besides, requested him to enhance the quota of ponywallahs, porters and other service providers from Ganderbal district for providing services to Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims, introduction of mobile toilets for the Yatris enroute the Holy Cave; and enhancement of the ration quota under NFSA for people in his constituency.
Adv. Dar urged the Governor for the up-gradation of roads, provision of adequate staff in Government hospitals, improvement in HT/LT lines and Receiving Station in his constituency. He also demanded a probe into allegations of misappropriation in PHE schemes; enhancement of ration quota under NFSA; one time relaxation to SRO 43 cases in which the legal heir of the deceased was a minor; development of Kupwara and Handwara towns and boost to tourism in Bangus Valley.
Raja Manzoor Ahmed urged the Governor to consider construction of Sadhna Tunnel to give connectivity to Karnah; grant of ST status to Pahari speaking people in Karnah; early start of 12 MW Hydel Project; replacement of poles of the transmission line from Kashmir Valley to Tangdhar; macadamisation of the approach road to Karnah especially from Sadhna Top to Sikh Bridge; completion and up-gradation of Pharkian-Keran road; improvement in health and education infrastructure; a mini sports stadium for Karnah and enhancement in ration quota under NFSA.
Mr. Javed Mirchal urged the Governor for up-gradation of Tangdhar to Hajitra via Nawa Gabra road; up-gradation of High School Nawa Gabra to Higher Secondary School; telecommunication facilities for Nawa Gabra and its adjoining villages.
Mr. Rana apprised the Governor about various development matters which are imperative for the development of his constituency.
