Srinagar: Work in Srinagar courts including Jammu and Kashmir High Court was affected Wednesday as lawyers’ suspended work to express solidarity with the family of their colleague who died in an accident in south Kashmir Anantnag (Islamabad) on Tuesday night. Advocate Sajid Iqbal son of Principal Secretary Agriculture Production Department Iqbal Khanday, died a car he was driving met with an accident near Awantipora on Srinagar-Jammu highway last night. Advocate Sajid whose mother— Kaneez Fatima is Registrar Judicial J&K High Court, died on the spot. Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association express grief on the sad demise and expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the members of the bereaved family in this event of grief especially with Kaneez Fatima. “May God grant solace and peace to the departed soul and give patience to the members of the bereaved family to bear the shock.â€In this regard, a spokesman of the association said that a condolence meeting was held in the Conference Hall of the lawyers body and presided over by President Mian Abdul Qayoom, wherein hundreds of lawyers participated and expressed their condolence and paid homage to the departed soul. The deceased Advocate Sajid Iqbal Khanday who was a young upcoming brilliant Advocate and a prominent Human Rights Activist.“In the meeting it is resolved unanimously that the members of the Bar Association are grieved and shocked to hear the said news and feel equally bereaved due to the demise of young Advocate and the lawyers fraternity share the grief equally with the family members of the deceased and expressed their solidarity with the bereaved family. In the meeting it was observed that the departure of the deceased from this world is a great loss to the lawyers fraternity and the society at large.  It was further decided in the meeting that the work shall remain suspended in all the courts of Srinagar as a mark of solidarity with the bereaved family, and accordingly the work remained suspended in all the courts including the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir at Srinagar in order to pay homage to the departed soul and mourn the death of the deceased.      Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held under the chairmanship of S M Sahai, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, alongwith officials, to mourn the sad and untimely demise of Sajad Iqbal.All the officials, including, those who had been trained and taught by Sajad Iqbal, described him as a noble soul who had immensely contributed in overall development of their personalities.
