Srinagar, May 26 (KMW): Expressing serious concern over the government tactics of trying to deviate the attention from the miseries of flood victims through roadside cultural shows, the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation has asked the ruling coalition to prioritize compensation over amusement.
“It is really unfortunate that at a time when the government should have concentrated on steps to mitigate sufferings of flood hit people of Kashmir, particularly traders, musical shows are being held in the affected areas,†the KTMF President Muhammad Yasin Khan said.
“Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu instead of exhibiting his talent through speedy processing of cases of flood hit traders and economic concerns thereof is concentrating on Chakri and Rouf through the culture Ministry he also heads,†the KTMF President observed.
He said through such insane and anti-people activities the government could be giving a rosy picture to the outside world but was deceiving the very people of Kashmir.
“There is a proper time for everything but when the government concentrates on Bollywood and musical shows over the interests of its own people, there looks to be typical mismatch in governance,†Khan said.
“Shops and houses lie damaged. Unemployment post floods has peaked and amid this government finds it high time to host musical concerts. Can finance minister explain this style of governance?†Khan asked adding “Chakri can wait, flood victims can’t.â€
