New Delhi: Hinting at the Congress party at the Centre, team Anna’s key aide Arvind Kejriwal today said the attack on senior lawyer and the Gandhian’s supporters appeared an attempt to divert the country’s focus from corruption and their demand for a strong Lokpal Bill.
“It seems, the attacks in the last two days were a conspiracy of all people indulged in corruption to shift our and the country’s focus from the main issue of corruption. Kashmir issue just being made an excuse for that,” Mr Kejriwal told a news conference at the Constitution Club here.
Referring to yesterday’s incident where Mr Hazare’s supporters were beaten up by right-wing Hindu extremist group Sri Ram Sene’s activists outside Patiala House court, Mr Kejriwal said, “there were lot of police personnel present on the site but they refused to interfere and help the victims. Doesn’t that raise suspicion.” “Police needs to answer whether their inaction was due to inefficiency or they were obeying orders received from the top,” he said.
“It is also strange that police could not trace or arrest the two attackers of Prashant Bhushan, whereas they were making statements in press,” he said.
However, India Against Corruption (IAC), including Mr Hazare, continued its disassociation with Mr Bhushan’s statement on Kashmir, calling it his personal opinion.
“IAC is working only on the issue of corruption and Lokpal Bill.
Core Committee of IAC does not agree with Mr Bhushan’s view on Kashmir,” the RTI activist said.
“IAC stands for unity and integrity of India. Kashmir is an integral part of India. Kashmir is a very complex issue and should be resolved within four walls of the Constitution,” he said.
He also made it clear that Mr Bhushan is and will remain an important member of core committee of IAC.
