Bangalore: The thrashing of a Kashmiri student by ‘hooligans’ in Southern state of Karnatka on Thursday night has triggered panic among the Valleyties undergoing studies at several educational institutions there. Banglore police has registered a case against the hooligans who made an attempt on the life of Kashmiri student during the dead of the night.
Zahid Yousf Dar resident of HMT Mustafa Abad Srinagar is doing Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) course at Brindavan College Banglore. Zahid told CNS over phone that three hooligans entered his room and tortured him for at least two hours for being a Kashmiri.
“I live alone in a flat located at Bus Stop Jamia Masjid Road in Bhoopsandra Banglore. At around 3:30 am, three hooligans knocked at my door and as soon as I opened the door, they caught hold of me and beat me mercilessly. I failed to understand why they were doing this but soon one of them told me that Kashmiri’s deserved such punishment everywhere,” Dar told CNS adding that the hooligans ransacked his room and decamped with cash and other valuable items.
“They snatched my I-Phone (5), bundled my Compaq laptop and decamped with cash amounted to Rs 8000. I suffered injuries all around my body as they were equipped with knives and iron rods,” he said adding that the torture left him unconscious till morning.
Zahid Yousf Dar said that he filed a complaint in Police Station Sanjay Nagar. “The police party visited the flat and inspected my room. I hope the culprits would be brought to justice,” he said.
Meanwhile, the father of Zahid Yousf Dar told CNS that he was perturbed after hearing the bad news. “I have left for Banglore to meet my son. Government must take measure which could ensure safety for Kashmiri students studying outside Jammu and Kashmir,” Muhammad Yousf said.
When contacted, Station House Officer, Police Station Sanjay Nagar, Mr Nagraj told CNS police is investigating the matter and hopefully all the culprits would be arrested soon. “We have registered an FIR vide 277/2013 under section 384, 34 of IPC in this regard. We are on job and justice would be delivered to the affected student,” he said.
