Jammu , May 7 : Around 54 per cent Kashmiri migrants today exercised their right to franchise at specially established polling stations in Jammu, Udhampur and New Delhi for Baramulla parliamentary constituency on the last phase of Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Overall 54.94 per cent polling was recorded today as registered Kashmiri migrants cast their vote at specially set up polling stations,” an official here said.
He said there were total 6,278 registered migrant voters including 3,220 males and 3,058 females, who desired to vote in the last leg of the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
“In Jammu district, 50.04 per cent migrants exercised their franchise at 13 specially established polling stations,” said an official adding that out of total 6,191 registered voters only 3,098 exercised their right to franchise.
He further added that in Udhampur district, the polling percentage was 54.8 per cent as out of 62 registered voters only 34 including 19 male and 15 female cast their vote.
From New Delhi, reports said that out of registered 25 voters, 15 including nine males and six females turned up to cast their vote.
Earlier for Anantanag and Srinagar constituencies, migrant polling percentage was recorded as 47 and 36 per cent respectively.
