Jammu: Condemning National Conference leader Mustafa Kamal’s statement that Government of India was the real ‘enemy of the state’, Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad today termed his denial as ‘meaningless’.
‘I completely disagree and condemn the statement of Mr Kamaal,” Mr Azad told reporters on the sidelines of a function here this morning.
He said he had gone through the statement of the NC leader in which he had clearly said that he has no hesitation in saying that India is the ‘real enemy of the state’ and not Pakistan.
‘After issuing such statement, his denial is meaningless,” the Health minister said adding that a person of a ruling party, whose nephew is the Chief Minister and brother is the Union Minister, should not make such remarks.
The NC leader is uncle of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and brother of Dr Farooq Abdullah.
‘The party has said that the statement is ‘irresponsible’ but it is not enough,” Mr Azad said and added that it is up to them to take decision on it.
Mr Azad is on a day-long visit to Jammu and Kathua district and will address a rally on Shaheedi Divas in Kathua.
