K V Kamath to be Chairman of Infosys, Gopalakrishnan Co-Chairman

Bangalore: IT services major Infosys Technologies Limited today announced that its Board of Directors had appointed Mr K V Kamath as the newChairman of the Board with effect from August 21, 2011 in succession to founder-Chairman N R Narayana Murthy, who has been namedChairman Emeritus.
Mr Kamath, the Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors ofICICI Bank Limited, is currently an Independent Director on the Infosys Board.
Mr S Gopalakrishnan has been named as the Co-Chairman of the Board and his place as CEO and Managing Director will be taken by Mr S D Shibulal, the present Chief Operating Officer (COO).
The decision of the Board is based on the recommendations of the Nominations Committee.
“This is a great moment for Infosys. These three leaders meld an extraordinary range of talents and experiences with a united commitment to drive the company to unprecedented levels of accomplishment while remaining true to its historic values. We could not be in better hands,” Prof. Jeffrey S. Lehman, Chairman of the Nominations Committee said.
Mr Kamath has a degree in mechanical engineering as well as a degree in management from the IndianInstitute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. He was honoured by the Government with the Padma
