Srinagar: Stating that the ongoing freedom movement in Kashmir was a struggle for the right to self determination of all sections and communities in Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday emphasized that resolution of the Kashmir dispute would usher a new era of peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pak subcontinent.
“Three generations of Kashmiris have been consumed for a solution of the dispute, therefore,  both India and Pakistan have to be persuaded that resolving the Kashmir issue through dialogue with Kashmiris is imperative for peace, stability and development of the entire region,” Mirwaiz said addressing a seminar in Chandigarh today.
Mirwaiz said civil society groups, justice and democracy loving institutions and people in India should come forward and raise the issue of gross human rights violations in Kashmir before the country’s masses. “The Indian public should also understand that the struggle of Kashmiris for freedom is just like India’s struggle against British imperialism, and ask their government why are Kashmiris then being subjected to terror and oppression,” he said.
