Srinagar: Terming unemployment as major reason for the ‘frustration’ of youth, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, S.M Sahai Thursday asked youth to concentrate on their studies and play a part in the progress of the state.“Unemployment causes frustration among youths,” Sahai told reporters on the sidelines of a one day national level workshop on awareness of Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme under Khadi and Village Industries Commission. Sahai said though the employment opportunities in the government sector were limited, the youth needed to be made aware about the various employment schemes provided by the government under projects such as Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme.  “There are other options (other than government jobs), but youth need to look for them,” he said as per a correspondent.Sahai said compared to Kashmir the other states in India particularly South India were progressing fast because “youth there are utilizing their energy for the progress of their states.”“Kashmiri youth need to do the same. Shah Faesal is an example for them. A guy whose father was killed by militants and despite poverty he secured 1st position in IAS exams,” he said.  After the event at SP College here, the IGP moved north of this summer capital and inaugurated a youth club in Pattan. In his interaction with youth and respectables of Pattan, he said that the youth club has been created with an aim to provide a platform for educational awareness and recreational activities. Even career counselling for the youth through such clubs is in the offing, he said.Sahai also dedicated 32-inches Panasonic LCD TV, Airtel Dish TV, three carom boards, two chess boards with chairs and tables, besides, dozens of National, local magazines and Newspapers to the Youth Club. Employment related News papers were also made available to the local youth.
