Srinagar, Mar 5(KMW): In view of its third foundation day, Jammu and Kashmir Young Journalist Association (JKYJA) today conveyed a meeting presided over by its president Ajaz Ahmad War.
Besides its key member the meeting witnessed the presence of all its members bringing up the genuine problems of journalists. Pertinent to mention here the young journalists of Jammu & Kashmir had formally formulated the first ever journalist body representing the young journalists of the state on 05 March 2015.
According to a statement issued to KMW, During his presidential speech on the occasion, Ajaz Ahmad War, Editor-in-Chief –‘Kashmir Media Watch’ stated that We are very much contended with the performance of JKYJA as it has since its foundation tried its level best to champion the cause of browbeaten journalists of our state. In coming days, we would be launching a statewide membership drive to involve entire journalist fraternity in our fold. The JKYJA would be also reorganized and restructured to make it more effective.
Rameez Makhdoomi, Chief Media Spokesperson of JKYJA urged – “The threats, economic insecurities faced by young journalists in Kashmir are much worrying. JKYJA in this regard would like to appreciate upon new state government to provide insurance cover to young journalists facing various perils during rendering of their professional duties.â€
On the occasion, Bilal Bashir Bhat, Editor-in-Chief –‘Only Kashmir’ called for ensuring more freedom of speech and avenues to the young journalists of Jammu &Kashmir and urged the government to immediately to work for the upliftment of Online Media.
Addressing the meeting Mir Imran said Kashmir Press in Srinagar should cross check the merits of their International reporting on Kashmir.
It is worth mentioning that since its foundation JKYJA has organized number of intellectual sessions and programmes to highlight the problems of young journalists of Jammu & Kashmir.
