Srinagar, Mar 05: Jammu and Kashmir Young Journalist Association (JKYJA) today celebrated its fourth anniversary with the pledge to harness and promote journalistic values. The meet was organized on the eve, participated by all important functionaries.
The meeting was also attended by Bilal Bashir Bhat (Treasure), Majid Kapra (Organizer), Bilal Furqani (Vice-President),Tauseef Mir, (General Secretary), Rameez Makhdoomi (Chief Spokesman).
JKYJA welcomed the government initiative to establish a press colony at Srinagar and hoped that same will meet the housing and office related needs of media houses. JKYJA also called upon the government to fulfill its promise of releasing advertisements to Webportals calling it the dire need of time.
The meet also called upon the government to act tough against deadwood and namesake journalists who are bringing disrepute to holy profession and are lacking the desired competence.
Mr. Ajaz Ahmad War, President JKYJA Stated – “On the eve of four years of JKYJA coming into existence it is matter of great pleasure that we have tried our level best to champion the cause of young journalists. Releasing advertisements to online webportals that are providing quality news and analysis and have been in the field since more than half decade , housing and office facilities to young journalist professionals and weeding out the inefficiency from media world should be taken on priority basis. Kashmir being a conflict zone so a special insurance policy should be announced for young journalists especially those covering conflict. We pledge to take forward the mantle of truth forward via our zeal and zest.â€
Besides other scores of members Raziya Noor, Mir Imran, Sheikh Omar, Syed Tajamul, Rabia Shafiq aslo participated in the meet.
A resolution was passed on the occasion which reaffirmed the resolve of JKYJA to champion the just cause of young journalists of Kashmir and uphold the dignity of journalism profession and divert full energies to highlight the problems of common masses.
