JKP introduces multipurpose nafri guard, to prevent loss of lives during protest: Dr Vaid

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 26: With a view to avoid casualties, Jammu and Kashmir Police has fabricated a road barrier called “Multipurpose Nafri Guard”, which is first of its type in the country to deal with the violent mobs. The purpose of A-4 wheel movable road barrier is to block the roads so that violent mobs cannot cross the specified line.
This was disclosed by Special Director General of Police, Coordination/ Law & Order, Dr. SP Vaid, while inspecting the barrier here today. He said that the barrier is welded with square welded wire mesh to save the personnel from head and body injuries during stone pelting. It is provided with a stand from where pellet shall not hit the mob, protestors above the waist. Besides, stand points have been adjusted to fire tear smoke shells at 45 degree to prevent direct hit to the protestors causing their death, injuries, said the special DG.
Dr. Vaid disclosed that the barrier is equipped with protective shield to save the personnel from head injuries during violent protests. He appreciated the efforts of SSP Police Transport Workshop Srinagar, Mr. Iqbal Afroz Malik and the team of technicians for fabricating the unique barrier to save the human lives during protests. He said that JKP is adopting modern methods to prevent loss of human lives, while dealing with law and order situations.
