Srinagar,Mar 7 (KMW): in a significant development of its kind, the students association of J&K, ‘JK Youth Council’ today organized a press briefing and interaction of the expelled students of Subharti University with the media personnel at press enclave here.
During the interaction the students narrated the sad and sorry state of affairs that they have been facing for the last two years. The students further lamented that they from the time of joining the university have never been referred to as students or Kashmiris but as Pakistanis and terrorists instead. They further said that they have been harassed ever since and many of the students have been beaten to pulp many a times but the students responsible have never been held to account on the same and instead the victimized students of Kashmir were blamed on the contrary.
According to a statement issued by JKYC to KMW,Speaking on the event the President of JK Youth Council ‘Muhammad Tauseef’ maintained that the stands taken by the University as well as the state Govts. of UP and JK including the Union Government were highly uncalled for and in a democratic set-up cheering for a cricket team must not account to sedition. It belittles the tall claims of the government of India of connecting hearts, bridging gaps through CBM’s including cricket diplomacy, said Tauseef. The president further maintained that even if the case was registered it should have been registered on both the sides and the Kashmiri students should atleast been given a chance to explain themselves before being indicted as terrorist and seditious elements.
Supporting the claims of students JK Youth Council said that abandoning the students at Old Delhi Railways station was an inhumane and highly irresponsible act for which the University must be made accountable to explain such a callous action.
Appealing the state Government JK Youth Council said that it was high time that the CM take this issue seriously and ensure their secure future, career as well as the security of their lives. The President of Youth Council towards the conclusion maintained that the association within a short span of time is going to start a door-door campaign of collecting donations from the common masses in order to establish an institute within the state wherein students could study.(KMW)
