Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference president Begum Khalida Shah today said that Jammu and Kashmir should act as a bridge between India and Pakistan. Ms Shah was unanimously re-elected as JKANC president yesterday by voice vote for the term of another three years. Ms Shah has been re-elected as ANC president for another three years with the unanimous decision of the party members during a voting held here, A party spokesman here said. Addressing the party leadership at a meeting this morning, she said, Efforts should be speeded up for holding Intra-Kashmir Conference for Peace and Solution. J&K shall act as a bridge between India and Pakistan. Expressing concern and anguish at growing Human Rights violations, she said wanton killings cannot be allowed to continue. Meanwhile the party also launched fresh membership drive and set a target of three lakh members within the next six to 12 months. On Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), she said, it should be seriously discussed and no politics be allowed to be played over the issue. Time has come to do way with all the draconian laws in the state, she alleged. She said the party would launch a crusade against corruption and the protest marches will be held at all District Head quarters in Jammu and Kashmir on December 15. Meanwhile party s new flag was also launched in the meeting while Muzaffar Shah s, senior vice president, tabled political and economic resolutions and after discussion, these resolutions were put to vote and passed unanimously.
