UDHAMPUR: Udhampur–Reasi Range Police is organizing 2nd Police Martyrs Memorial State Level Volley Ball tournament at Mini Stadium , Town Hall Udhampur under Civic Action Plan -2011-12 w.e.f November 11, 2011 to November 14,2011. Eight to ten outstanding teams of the state form Civil Club, Police, Para Military Forces and Army are taking part in this tournament.
Deputy Inspector General, Udhampur –Reasi Range, Mr. Jagjit Kumar while briefing the media persons regarding the tournament said that apart running trophy the winner/ runner-up and third placed teams would also be awarded trophies along with medals to all the players. Besides, cash prizes worth Rs. 20,000 (twenty thousand only), Rs 10,000 (ten thousands only) and Rs. 5000 ( five thousand only) shall be awarded to the winner/ runner-up and third placed teams respectively. Three special prizes amounting to Rs. 2000 (two thousand only) each for best striker, best setter and all-round best player of the tournament shall also be given.
Moreover, outstation civil/ private participating teams shall be paid actual to and fro “B†class bus fare for 12 players including one coach cum manager besides free boarding and lodging. The tournament shall be played as per the rules and regulations of Volley ball Federation of India.
The tournament is being organized with the sole aim of paying the homage to the police Martyrs, to strengthen police public relations and to promote sports activities in the district.
Among others, Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur, Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Beig, Nodal Officer of the tournament, Dy SP Bodh Raj, Dy SP (DAR), Mr. Suram Singh, President Volley Ball Association Udhampur, Mr. Raj Guru, Zonal Physical Education Officers and other functionaries of police were present on the occasion.
