SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 02(KMW): Amritsar, the holiest city of Sikh religion is also among the thronged place by Kashmiris on account of the health, education, leisure needs. As few decades back the Kashmir House’s were established in important cities of India to facilitate people of Jammu & Kashmir during their stays in these cities, unfortunately the huge and spacious has fallen to ill management.
As a matter of fact, in the city of Amritsar The JK House is located on the city’s posh Court Road and surrounded by 20 kanals of land. The building has a rich legacy and the land was purchased by the Jammu and Kashmir Government from a businessman Ganga Ram Bal Mokand in 1950 under a cabinet order (657-C Dated:16.6.1950). The Government had purchased this property for an amount of ninety-two thousand rupees, and it was commonly known as the Kashmir Trade Agency. It was operational from the 1950s to the late 70s, and a Trade Agent from the J&K Government used to be posted to operate from Amritsar. The entire official business between the J&K Government and other neighboring states was looked after by the Trade Agent. Such Trade Agents were also posted in Bombay, Delhi and Calcutta.
The overall Paradigms of the JK House Amritsar due to lack of staff , thus the interiors, furniture and other furnishing have not been replaced. There are large and spacious rooms in the building, but nobody looks after them. The irony is that the government has failed to appoint good team of sweepers to clean the property.
The ground pulse is that the JK House at Amritsar is one example of callous mismanagement by the government. First and foremost when there is need of about at least two dozen employees to manage the JK House affairs in smooth way there are just three employees working aptly stating the plight.
Pertinently, the flooring of the JK House Amritsar is speaking its own miserable tale with very rough, rugged and old linen in rooms and floors, the cleanness and sanitation parameters are also in disarray due to negligible strength of the staff.
With this feeble strength of staff there is no catering and refreshment facility and it being thus the only JK House in India with no mess, thus patients and their attendants taking a severe hit .
Although, the Manager Preeti Sharma overseeing the current affairs of the JK House Amritsar is trying her level best to manage aptly the affairs within her given capacity even spending money from own pocket to see improvements .
A patient attendant Haroon Chaudhary who was staying few weeks back gone to JK House Amritsar stated “ I had to run away from the JK House Amritsar with no facility or basic amenities available there .Cleanness is zero, mess no existent , bathrooms in shambles and garden in rowdy shape with filled dusts and dirt .All this is due to the lack of staff provided by the govt to such a huge property . The government should take immediate steps to revive glory of the JK House Amritsar.”
While speaking to Protocol Department Additional Secretary Protocol Sushil Kumar, he stated: “ I Will ascertain the facts and give a serious look into the matter and tell you the exact position . “
