Jammu: The 300-long Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the only surface link between Kashmir and the rest of the country, was today closed for vehicular traffic due to snowfall and slippery conditions at some stretches along it.
Vehicular traffic was not allowed today on the highway from both the capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar due to slippery road and shooting stones triggered by heavy rains and snowfall along the highway, police officials said here.
One and half inch of snowfall was recorded at Jawahar tunnel besides Banihal town, they said.
Due to fresh snowfall triggered at Nathatop, Patnitop, Banihal town and the Jawahar tunnel along the highway since last evening, the road got slippery at several places and shooting stones were also triggered at Panthyal in Ramban district, they said.
