JAMMU, DECEMBER 6(KMW) : During an hour long meeting at the Raj Bhavan today evening, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti discussed with Governor N. N. Vohra the overall situation in the Valley, the steps underway for re-energising the development projects and enabling the restoration of the severely disturbed schedules of the educational system, at all levels. Considering the time lost the Governor urged sustained sharp focus on the implementation of the various works and development projects and the administrative apparatus working over time to catch up on all fronts.
Governor also discussed with the Chief Minister the likely time-frame for the conduct of elections to the urban and rural self-governing bodies. In this context he stressed the importance of empowerment of the rural population through the effective establishment of the Panchayati Raj institutions. Chief Minister informed Governor that she is considering a time frame for the Panchayat elections, to be preferably held early next year, other things being equal.
