JCC sets Feb 18 as yet another deadline for Govt

Srinagar: Intensifying its pressure on the state government to press for their demands, the employees’ Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) has set yet another deadline for the government to fulfil their demands.
Setting February 18 as the next deadline for fulfilment of their demands, the JCC has decided to go for the three day strike starting from Feb 19, incase the state government ignored the deadline. “Wee don’t want confrontation as government has been trying to give an impression of. But yes we won’t sit hand folded also.” JCC leaders Mohamamd Khursheed Aalam and Ab. Qayoom Wani told media persons in separate press conferences held at Srinagar and Jammu respectively on Friday. They warned governmentt of serious repercussions, saying, any further delaying tactics would invite trouble for the govt. “We get an impression that government. Wants to get a political mileage out of the employee’s demands. They want to reserve the decision till a particular time, but we caution govt. to desist from playing politics with the sentiments of the employees”, said the JCC leaders in the press conference.
The JCC leaders lashed out at the governments saying it was misleading the public. “Our profession is not Politics; we are here to represent the aspirations and demands of the 4.5 lakh employees, so Govt. should avoid making comments against the leaders.” JCC leader Khursheed Aalm told media in Srinaagar.
Meanwhile giving details of the fresh programme, JCC leaders said that incase the goernemnt did not take any action vis a vis implementation of the agreements, all the govt. offices would remain shut for three days from February 19.
They said that protests and marches would be held at all the district headquarters on Feb. 19 after which memoranda will be presented to the concerned Deputy Commissioners. According to JCC, al the employees would observe sit-in in front of their offices from February 20 to 22 and would hoist black flags. Whereas the JCC said that on Feb 23, employees would hold protest in front of the civil secretariat at Jammu and Press colony at Srinagar.
JCC leaders have urged employees to make the programme a success and said that they were overwhelmed by the response of employees in making the recent protest programme a success.
JCC has also urged Civil Society, traders, lawyers, journalists and other walks of life to give a thought to the problems employees have been facing at the hands of the government and decided by themselves as to who was on wrong foot.
They said that the employees understand the problem general public must be facing due to strikes, but added that Govt. has left them with no other alternative. The other leaders who were present in the press conferences include Ab. Gafoor Dar, Nusrat Baig, Fayaz Ahamd Shabanum, Syed Aftab Indrabi, Tasleema Bashir, Rajesh hujariya, Farooq Ahmad Trali, Mmuntazir Miohi ud din, Haji Bashir Ganie, Manzoor Pampori.
