On 2nd of January the power supply was curtailed on pretext of ‘transformer damage’ following fundraising on local level the transformer was though allotted after 12 days, however, damaged again within 2 days.

Most recently the transformer was so called repaired and put to load again on 26th January afternoon, however, within 24 hours the residents were surprised to know that it has been again damaged.

The locals who assembled at road side told this reporter that they had been repeatedly demanding upgradation of transformer as it gets damaged every now and then and accused the concerned authorities of not paying heed to their repeated pleas.

“The issue was even brought into the notice of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Mr. Pandurang K. Pole (IAS), who although lend an attentive ear aimed to redressal the grievance at earliest, however, the ball lies in PDD’s court, said one of the resident.”
“The department is making different statements, sometimes they say that the transportation to carry the transformer is not available, which adds salt to our wounds, adding it seems the department is is deliberately pushing the locals here to the wall, adding that the people here are reeling under darkness and none from the department bothers to ensure early restoration of electricity in their area, a resident of the area said.”

The residents appeal Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to take stern action against PDD officials for their non-seriousness into the matter, adding, the area which is in the heart of city remain under darkness marks a question on developmental claims.
