Jal Shakti Minister reviews Water Supply Schemes in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, APRIL 25: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, today held a meeting with Superintending Engineers of the department at Civil Secretariat to review the progress on different Water Supply Schemes (WSSs) being executed in Kashmir division.

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, also participated in the meeting.

Javed Rana had a detailed review of the department functioning focusing on implementation of JJM in J&K, completion of different schemes, physical targets achieved besides fund utilisation under various schemes.

While addressing the meeting, Rana directed the Superintending Engineers to keenly monitor working of all water supply schemes, ensuring these function unhindered. He directed the concerned officials for fast-tracking completion of pending projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and other ongoing water supply schemes. He also asked them to increase their visibility on ground and take proactive initiatives like a complaint redressal system to address the problems of the general public.

He emphasized upon the officers to focus on effective grievances redressal mechanism so that people do not face any kind of inconvenience on this account. He called upon the officers to regularly monitor the execution of works so as to maintain quality standards.

Maintaining that the government is committed to provide quality water to all households, he asked for ensuring that all water quality standards are met at all levels without any compromise.

The Minister asked the officers to ensure removal of all bottlenecks and hindrances in project execution in coordination with other departments for timely completion of works.
