New Delhi: Trade union representatives from Jammu and Kashmir today sought the intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for revival of sick central units in the state and ensuring payment of wages and other benefits to their employees.

The delegation led by CPI MP and AITUC leader Gurudas Dasgupta told the Prime Minister that terrorism or secessionism cannot be fought “if the workers are left to suffer in starvation”.
In a meeting with Singh at Parliament House, the unions, representing handicraft, carpet and anganwadi workers and PSUs like IRCON, HMT Chinar Factory, Centaur Hotel and Indian Telephone Industry, sought revival of these units and complained that wages, leave alone Eid bonus, have not been paid for several months.
