Chennai: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch Resourcesat-2, an advanced remote sensing satellite, from the Spaceport of Sriharikota at 1012 hrs on April 20. An ISRO release here today said the satellite would be launched by ISRO’s workhorse launch vehicle Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).Along with the Resourcesat-2, the PSLV-C16 would also launch two other satellites, Youthsat and X-sat. The launch was earlier scheduled in January, but was postponed due to some technical glitches. This would be the first mission of the ISRO in 2011 and the first after the failure of the Christmas Day GSLV mission which exploded in mid air due to snapping of connectors in the first stage that carries signals to the onboard computer systems in the third stage. “Preparations for the launch are progressing well”, the release added.
