Jerusalem, Aug 28 A court of the Israel National Anti-Doping Organization (INADO) on Tuesday suspended Drew Edelman for four years.
The 29-year-old Israeli-American center, who played last season in the Israeli women’s Super League club Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan, tested positive for amphetamine in February of this year and was temporarily suspended by the INADO until the court’s ruling.
She also played in the Israeli women’s basketball and 3×3 national teams.
Amphetamine, a stimulant drug that acts on the central nervous system, is included in the list of prohibited substances of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
INADO CEO Daniel Hershtain said that “the presence of amphetamine in a professional league in Israel is disturbing, poses a significant risk to the health of the athletes, and undermines the values of the sport.”
He added that the organization “will continue to uphold its commitment to maintaining the health of athletes and clean and fair sports in all sports in the country.”
