Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the International Quds Day against Israeli hostilities in the Middle East has paved the way for Tel Aviv’s collapse.
Addressing a large protest rally in the Iranian capital Tehran, President Ahmadinejad said that “the Zionists are groups of hypocrite racists who have been operating under the pretext of following Jewish religion principles.”
He further added that Israel was fabricated by the West to promote their colonialist scheme through materialistic agenda in the new world.
The Iranian chief executive blasted the recent direct talks between Israel and Palestinian Authority officials on the Palestinian issue and said, “Only Palestinians could decide on their own lands not foreign powers.”
The Iranian president accused the Middle East moderators who have been engaged in direct talks with Israeli officials of being accomplice to the Israeli atrocities against Palestinians.
He further pointed out that Israel has been on decline over the popular resistance and global awakening against its aggressions and is on the brink of collapse despite the US financial and military backup to save it.
He also called on Western powers to abandon their support of “the Zionists” and renounce their agenda.
President Ahmadinejad made the comments in central Tehran, where people had gathered to mark the International Quds Day on the last Friday of Ramadan.
People across Iran took to the streets on September 3, to protest the continued occupation of the holy lands by Israel.
The late founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini, in August 1979 declared the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as the Quds Day, calling for global solidarity with Palestinians and against Israel.
The annual Quds Day rallies come amid new meetings of Israeli and Palestinian officials in Washington for direct talks on the Palestinian issue.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and acting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas held the first round of talks in Washington on Thursday.
The thorniest issues between the negotiating sides are Israel’s refusal to halt its illegal settlement activity in the West Bank and in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
The settlements have been described by the United Nations Security Council, the International Court of Justice, the European Union, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch as built in violation of international law.
Tel Aviv has also shown itself unwilling to compromise on the right of return for Palestinian refugees of the 1948 war and their descendants.
The Palestinians have long asserted that the refugees have a moral and legal right to return to their lands they were forced to abandon during the Israeli-Arab wars in 1948 and 1967.
