Srinagar: Chief Patron Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Muhammad Azam Inqilabi Friday condemned arrest of pro-resistance leaders including Shabir Shah, Nayeem Khan and Javaid Mir at Islamabad.
The pro-resistance leaders were scheduled to offer Friday prayers at Islamabad in South Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Inqilabi termed the arrests as “interference in religious mattersâ€.
“We strongly condemn this police action. Indian government should reconsider its macavellian tactics in Kashmir, as they are fraught with dangerous consequences,†he said.
MeA patron said the arrested pro-resistance leaders have played vital role in reviving of political institutions here.
He also condemned the re-arrest of Muslim League Chairman Mushtaq-ul-Islam. Mushtaq was to address a press conference in Srinagar when police arrested him just five days after his release from a 20-month detention.
“These are the things due to which we consider the cross-Loc trade of onions and potatoes as an attempt to procrastinate the issue of Kashmir,†Inqilabi said.
He said “cosmetic measures†on Kashmir can’t ward-off threats posed by lingering of this issue.
He said India and Pakistan should give Kashmiris their right of self-determination. “This is the only way of achieving long lasting peace in the region.†(KMW News)
