Jammu: Security forces today foiled yet another infiltration attempt in bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir this morning.
“Armymen noticed a movement of group of militants loaded with weapons, trying to sneak in Indian territory during the wee hours today from forward Anand Post along Line of Control in Sonawali Gali area of Mankote sector of tehsil Mendhar,” official sources here told.
They said on seeing the infiltrators, the Army troops opened fire, which was retaliated, adding the exchange of fire lasted for about more than half an hour.
No incident of any injury or damage to property has been reported.
There is an instant rise in infiltration attempts from across the border for the past one month as militants are trying to cross over before the closure of passes due to snowfall during winters.
