Indian PM has political compulsions: Former RAW Chief

New Delhi: Describing the Samba Fidayeen attack as a routine attack, former Chief of Research Analysis Wing (RAW) and a leading expert on Kashmir, A.S.Dulat Saturday said that militants have a capability to strike anywhere and Samba attack was not an exception. “The biggest thing is that Indian Prime Minister did not succumb to the pressure and expressed his willingness to talk to his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharief. This decision of Prime Minister dashed the hopes of all those elements who are inimical to peace,” Dulat told Srinagar based news agency adding that Pakistan and India should move ahead and forget their bitter past.
He said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is an honest politician and want to resolve all the issues with Pakistan. “It is satire that our PM has political compulsion while the PM of Pakistan succumbs to the pressure of Army establishment there,” he said and added that Indian PM is unable to do what he wishes to do.
The member of National Security Advisor said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should not decline the invitation and should visit Pakistan. “It would be better for Singh to visit Pakistan and put forth his viewpoint on every issue concerning India,” he said.
A.S.Dulat said that there is nothing wrong if Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visits Pakistan. “I think it would be a new beginning if he visits Pakistan and raise issues related to terrorism and trade with his counterpart in Islamabad,” he said and added that Pakistan like a good and true neighbor should also understand the problems of India and should try to address them.
He said that Jammu twin attacks were carried out to derail the peace process between India and Pakistan. However, the sensibility shown by Manmohan Singh defeated the designs of vested interested elements. “Militants can strike everywhere. Attacks like Samba and Hira Nagar have occurred in past as well and there is nothing new in such attacks. The aim of Fidayeen is to create havoc but at political level we have to show some sort of sensibility and should not put an end to the dialogue process in a blink,” he said.
A.S.Dulat said that time has come that Pakistan grant Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India. (CNS)
