Hurriyat (M) to visit Indian cities for clearing ‘misconceptions’

Srinagar: Jan Hastakshape , a Delhi based Human Rights organization has emphasized the need of clearing the “misconceptions” of the Indian public about the “grave” situation in Kashmir.

“The Indian public at large is not only unaware about the grave situation in Kashmir but also harbors many misconceptions due to the negative propaganda of Indian media,” members of the human rights group, during an interaction with Hurriyat(M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his Nigeen residence Saturday, said.

Mirwaiz informed the delegation led by Dr. N. Bhatacharya that the Hurriyat leaders would soon visit major Indian cities to apprise the Indian masses about the “ground” situation in Kashmir.

A spokesman of the amalgam said the Hurriyat (M) chairman while apprising the delegation about the worst human rights violations being committed by Indian forces in Kashmir said that 114 innocent civilians had been killed by government forces since June and human rights violations were touching extreme proportions in view of the unabated reign of curfews, arbitrary arrests, crackdowns, and infringement of political and religious rights of Kashmiris.

“Unless the issue of Kashmir is not resolved in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people stability and peace will continue to evade the sub-continent,” Mirwaiz, according to the spokesman, told the delegation.

Other members of the delegation included Professor Amit Badri, Mrs Madhu Badri, Pankaj Singh, Jaspal Sidhu and N Mishra.
