New Delhi: India will persist with two spinners and two pacers in the remaining league matches of the cricket World Cup, according to captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who said he was keen to try out all the options before the knock-out stage.
Dhoni said it was difficult to take a fifth specialist bowler in team and reckoned that the two spinner-two pacer formula was the ideal option, an indication that off spinner R Ashwin could make his World Cup debut in place of Piyush Chawla who has been highly disappointing.
“I think it is difficult to take a fifth specialist bowler in the team. We are looking at 2X2 as the ideal option.
We will find out before the knock-out stage starts,” Dhoni said at the pre-match press conference here.
