New Delhi, Oct 10  India is deeply concerned at the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, including at the targeting of infrastructure and deaths of civilians, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.
Responding to media queries on escalation of conflict in Ukraine, the official spokesperson reiterated that escalation of hostilities is in no one’s interest.
“We urge immediate cessation of hostilities and the urgent return to the path of diplomacy and dialogue. India stands ready to support all such efforts aimed at de-escalation,” he said.
India has consistently maintained since the beginning of the conflict that the global order is anchored in the principles of the UN Charter, international law and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, Bagchi added.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar also held broad ranging discussion on Ukraine conflict and its impact on Indo Pacific region with Australian counterpart Penny Wong.
We have discussed Ukraine and its repercussions in the Indo Pacific region, the minister said addressing a joint press conference with his Australian counterpart after the two leaders held the 13th India-Australia Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue in Canberra.
