In a first, Kashmir-based Urdu daily introduced QR coding in Print Media

SRINAGAR: 17 JULY:In a bid to meet the challenges faced by Print Media emerged due to the massive influence of Digital Media among the general masses, a Kashmir Valley-based Urdu daily “Srinagar Jang” has come up with an innovative design by publishing QR code along with the related story, which enables readers to watch videos, elaborated stories through print edition.

The technology of printing QR Codes with particular news stories in the print editions will enable readers to generate curiosity, excitement, and anticipation. Besides, it will fulfill the need to bridge the gap under threat Print Media with Digital Media. This will also encourage people to access online media easily through mobile phones, or gadgets while going through Print Edition.

Daily Srinagar Jang’s innovative idea of QR coding in Print Media, will surely attract the readers to Print Media, which otherwise, is under threat due to the rapid development of the internet.

Speaking to this reporter, Printer, Publisher, and Editor of Daily Srinagar Jang, Bilal Bashir Bhat stated that the massive surfacing of News portals or Social Media has resulted in newspapers to go overshadowed every passing day, and as such there is a dire need for the print industry to fight back to gain the spotlight.

Bilal Bashir Bhat hoped that other newspapers while taking a cue from him would surely adapt this latest trend of QR Coding in order to meet the challenges that emerged due to the mammoth use of news portals, smartphones, and other gadgets. He added, that we need to find ways to simplify that experience for the customers and readers and give value to them as much as possible.
