IED diffused on Mughal Road, J&K

Srinagar, Oct 31 : Jammu and Kashmir police and Indian army Friday ‘averted a major incident’ when a patrolling party detected a Improvised Explosive Device on the Mughal Road in southern Shupian district, an official said.

The IED weighing about 5 kilograms was detected in a Handy Gas Cylinder near Circuit house on the Mughal

Road this morning, he said.

The IED was planted by suspected militants, he said.

The traffic was stopped on both sides of the road and the device was defused in the nearby fields by a bomb disposal squad, the official said, adding that the explosive was planted apparently to target the government forces, who pass through the area. (News agency)
