Srinagar, Jan 14: Senior Hurriyat (M) leaders Er. Hilal Ahmed War and Javed Ahmed Mir visited Peerbagh where the body of a youth was found today. The two leaders were accompanied by a large delegation of Hurriyat activists.
Owais Bashir Malik, s/o Bashir Ahmed Malik, r/o Peerbagh was found missing five days back. The family of the slain youth has alleged that he was picked by the Rashtriya Rifles. The family claims that Owais has been severely tortured before his throat was slit with some sharp weapon. Torture marks were found all over the body of Owais.
Strong protests were registered by the Hurriyat delegation led by Er. Hilal War. Pro-azadi and anti-India slogans rent the air at the Airport road, according to our city reporter. A large posse of police and Army resorted to lathicharge and teargas shelling to disperse the protesters. Some Hurriyat activists and local women sustained injuries because of the lathicharge that led to a total mayhem.
