Hurriyat (M) calls for shutdown, Eidgah Chalo on May 21

Srinagar, May 12 (KMW): Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Tuesday convened the joint meeting of Hurriyat’s executive council and general council members at conglomerate’s headquarters, here.

In a statement to KMW a spokesperson of the Hurriyat (M) said, “Heads and representatives of all the constituents of APHC participated in the meeting. During the meeting, the participants took a detailed view of the ongoing political situation besides discussing organizational matters.”
“The meeting, which was called especially to finalize the arrangements for Hafta Shohda programs, also paid glorious tributes to Shaheed-e- Millat, Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq, Shaheed-e-Hurriyat Kahwaja Abdul Gani Lone, Hawal martyrs and all the martyrs of Kashmir. During the meeting, the participant’s gave final shape to the programme. It was decided that on Thursday, May 21 a public rally would be held at Iddgah, Srinagar and people have been appealed to observe complete shutdown and strike this day. A seminar on Sunday, May 17 would be organized at Hurriyat Headquarters and on Sunday May 24 a prayer meeting cum public rally would be held at Kralpora Kupwara to pay tributes to Shaheed-e- Millat and Shaheed-e-Hurriyat. It was resolved in the meeting that all the constituents would make full efforts to make the Hafta Shohda program a grand success on all levels,” he said.
“The aim to observe Hafta Shohda is to pay tributes to the martyred leaders as well as thousands of martyrs of Kashmir who laid their lives for the supreme cause and to show complete resolve and commitment towards the freedom struggle so that it becomes known upon the world that Kashmiris would continue to pursue with the struggle till the issue is not resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of people of Kashmir,” the spokesperson added.
