In a statement issued to news outlets, It is pertinent to mention here that Mr. War was about to cross through river Jehlum to Maisuma where he was supposed to lead the procession from Haji Masjid to Municipal Park after Friday prayers in view of celebration of Golden Jubilee (50 years of resistance) of Awami Action Committee as was announced by APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq that leaders of APHC will lead the processions from their respective areas towards the Municipal Park. Party spokesperson condemned their arrest in strong words saying it amounted to State oppression and a denial of right to expression. “This highhandedness of the State shows the times we are living in. If one is not even allowed to demonstrate peacefully, it leaves a big void for violent demonstrations,” said the PPP Spokesman. (KMW)
