Srinagar, Dec 7 (KMW): Keeping in view the reported restrictions by the authorities Huriyat Conference (G) Saturday deferred its Srinagar rally that was scheduled to be held on December 8. The Statement issued to KMW mentioned that the continuous confinement of Huriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has made the amalgam to defer the scheduled Srinagar rally. Condemning the restrictions imposed on its Chairman, Huriyat(G) has stated that it would announce the fresh dates of scheduled rallies once the senior separatist is released from the confinement.â€The meet headed by Syed Ali Geelani held at the Huriyat headquarters today discussed in detail the present situation and the restrictions imposed on Bandipora, Tral and Srinagar rallies.†The statement further mentioned that the participation of people in large numbers in the rallies of Huriyat (G) perturbed the authorities due to which the restrictions were imposed. The statement further mentioned that such moves by the authorities are ‘illegitimate ’and that the state has virtually been turned into a police state wherein the lawlessness has prevailed all around. The amalgam has further appealed its supporters and general masses to show maximum restrain and not to resort to any act of voilance. It has further asked people across valley not to approach Srinagar on December 8 and that the new schedule for the rally would be announced after the release of senior separatist.
