Kargil, June 28: The National Power Training Institute (NPTI), HPTC Nangal, Punjab conducted a two-day training program for DISCOM officials on the topic “Grid Connected Rooftop Solar System” under the flagship initiative PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The training held at Syed Mehdi Memorial Auditorium Hall, Kargil concluded today.
The training aimed at building capacity among DISCOM personnel (PDD Officials) in the implementation of rooftop solar installations and related grid integration, in line with national renewable energy goals.
On the concluding day Dr. M. Ravichandra Babu, Director, NPTI, delivered an in-depth presentation on safety standards critical to rooftop solar installations. He elaborated on key topics such as the importance of proper earthing, types of earthing systems, earthing standards, anti-islanding grid protection, and the necessity of SPVRTs and lightning arresters. He also spoke on quality management, system monitoring and the integration of rooftop solar systems with net metering and smart meters.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, Deputy Director, NPTI, addressed the administrative procedures involved in rooftop solar deployment. His session included insights on Roof Top policy, regulations, calculation of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) and customer subsidy mechanisms.
Balwinder Kumar, Faculty at NPTI, provided guidance on net meter application processes, connection site inspections and verification reports, giving participants a detailed overview of practical implementation procedures.
The training sessions also served as an interactive platform, where the speakers addressed various technical and procedural concerns raised by the participants, ensuring greater clarity and preparedness among DISCOM officials for effective on-ground implementation of the scheme.
