House Panel on JAKFED holds meet

JAMMU: The State Legislative Council panel set up to probe into the alleged embezzlement of funds in JAKFED met today under the chairmanship of Khalid Najib Suharwardy.
Members of the Committee Naresh Kumar Gupta, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Ali Muhammad Dar and Muzaffar Ahmed Parrey were also present in the meeting.
The Committee reviewed the reports submitted by the concerned department and took a serious view of non-compliance of the directions of the committee with regard to furnishing of details of the records regarding the functioning of JAKFED, the FIR report and action taken report thereafter and completed volumes of the Pillai Committee report.
The members expressed disapproval of the callous approach of the concerned officer for not submitting the reports before the committee in time. It issued further directions to provide the records and information within the notified time
The Committee also directed Administrative Secretary, Cooperatives to ensure compliance of the directions of the Committee and furnish the requisite information and records on or before May 10, 2013.
It is pertinent to mention here that two panels were set up by the Council on April 16 to look into the issues of restoration of State properties outside the State and alleged bungling and embezzlement of public money worth crores of rupees in JAKFED.
