Horticulture deptt organizes mega awareness camp at Bani

KATHUA, JUNE 24(KMW): Department of Horticulture Kathua organized a mega awareness camp for sensitizing the farmers/orchardists about various assistance schemes under the Horticulture sector here at Bani today.
MLA Bani Jeevan Lal was the chief guest on the occasion. Chief Horticulture Officer Kathua Tarvinder Singh, Chief Agriculture officer, Project Director Krishi Vigyan Kendra SKUAST Kathua, Tehsildar Bani, Horticulture Development Officer Bani /Duggan Sarpanches, Panches farmer/ orchardists were also present on the occasion.
While addressing the farmers, MLA Bani Jeevan Lal said that necessary steps will be taken to provide post harvest facilities with regard to the horticulture sector to the orchardists. He also called upon the farmers to avail the benefits of various government sponsored schemes to raise their economic status.
The resource persons from agriculture and allied departments also made the farmers/orchardists aware about various government sponsored schemes and programmes during the interactive session.
Various departments which participated in the awareness camp include KVK SKUAST Kathua, Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Rural Development department Cooperatives, Fisheries, Banking Institution, NYK, Horticulture (Planning and Development).
Over 400 farmers from Bani and adjoining areas of Louang and Kantal participated in the camp.
The representatives from banking institutions also participated in the camp.
