Srinagar, 13 March(KMW): People’s Political Party Chairman Er. Hilal Ahmed War was released today from Central Jail, Srinagar. War was shifted to Central Jail on Saturday from police station Ram Munshibagh after he, along with other Hurriyat activists, was detained at Sonwar when they were on way to Shopian to pay tribute to the families of the four civilians and two militants who were killed by forces on 4 March.

War said that imprisonment and other hardships are a part and parcel of any freedom movement and those fighting for such causes shouldn’t be bogged down by it. “It’s a part and parcel of the movement. We stand up to the occupier and we’re ready to face a harsh treatment and sending us to prison is just one of the tactics of the occupier,” said War.

“The NIA raid on the central jail was abrupt and swift and hundreds of vehicles, personnel and even drones were pressed into action. The jail premises wore the look of a war zone and the inmates were maltreated in different ways,” said War. He said such coercive tactics won’t deter the freedom-loving Kashmiris to renege on their cause.

“India has brutalized us, killed us, blinded us and maimed us. And it has only reinforced our belief in the sanctity of our cause,” said War.
