Srinagar, (KMW News): Chairman Peoples’ Political Party, Er. Hilal Ahmad War today filed an FIR against Times Now news anchor Arnob Goswami for allegedly issuing threats to him during a panel discussion on the Delhi based TV channel.

In a written complaint to the Station House Officer, Kothibagh Police Station here, War said, “. I was engaged in a debate on Times Now News Channel, anchored by its editor Arnob Goswami on 24-06-2013 at 10:30 p.m. regarding events taking place in Jammu and Kashmir especially the shootout that took place on 24th June, 2013 at Hyderpora, Srinagar. While participating in the debate, I expressed my free opinion and used the right to expression to project my views on the subject.”
“In the course of the debate, the anchor (accused) threatened me of consequences for unknown reasons. To make a mention here, he used the following expression: “you are exposing yourself”. And the accused, Arnob Goswami, threatened me more than three times, which gives me sufficient belief that there is a threat to my life from him. The fact that Arnob is a rabid media fascist strengthens my apprehensions. Any untoward incident happening to me or my family members should squarely fall on the accused, Arnob Goswami, who is known more for his Hindutva zealotry, insane nationalism and war-mongering rhetoric than journalistic credentials”, he added.

While speaking to KMW Mr. War said, “freedom of expression is universally accepted and recognized as a fundamental right in favour of every citizen of the globe. He further said that time and again we have the experience of being victims of aggressive chauvinistic anti-Kashmir propaganda unleashed by Indian journalists who are more inclined to a Bhrahmanical leaning. This, apart from many other factors, has caused a huge damage to the Indian image and the Indians have none else to blame”.
“Needless to say Goswami in his news show is the lawyer, the judge and everything himself. He is averse to allowing people to voice their views in case he doesn’t agree with them. Mr. swami’s unparliamentarily and threatening language and a jingoistic posturing towards the panelists is no secret. And its latest display was on his News hour debate against me on 24.06.2013 when he not only got mad but went to the extent of threatening me”.
PPP Chief, Engineer Hilal invited the conscience of the general public and asked them to examine his behavior in letter and spirit on the debate and mobilize public opinion to demand for banning such programmes or removal of news anchors like the rabid Goswami.
