Srinagar| Friday, 06: Traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only road linking Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country, has been suspended due to heavy snowfall.
Meanwhile, dozens of roads, connecting far-flung and remote areas, including those near the Line of Control (LoC), remained closed due to heavy snowfall.
The national highway, linking the Ladakh region with Kashmir and historic Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir and Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region, have been closed for six winter months following heavy snowfall.
The Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed following heavy snowfall, particularly at Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir, Jawahar Tunnel and Shaitan Nallah, a traffic police official told UNI this morning.
It was snowing heavily and road has become very slippery, he said, adding that traffic will remain suspended on the highway till further orders.
